EVOLUȚIA CĂSĂTORIILOR MIXTE ÎN CADRUL COMUNITĂȚII DE RUTENI DE PE VALEA RUSCOVEI, ÎN SECOLUL XX. STUDIU DE CAZ: COMUNA RUSCOVA, 1930-2010

Gheorghe Benzar

Abstract:
This study aims to present how mixed marriages have evolved among Ruthenian population in Northen-Maramures, namely in the Ruscova Valley in the 20th century. We also wanted to display certain matrimonial habits, for example if there was a preference in choosing a partner from a particular locality, or ethnic background, and also how these customs have changed over time, especially after the expansion of the matrimonial market due to industrialization, dislocations of people during the communist period or later due to the opening of borders. It was our interest to see the development of this phenomenon and whether there is a link between mixed marriages and the loss of identity in this community.
